Frederick W. Beinecke papers concerning Lewis and Clark Expedition's 150th anniversary and the rediscovery of the expedition's field maps, 1954-1958.

The collection consists of a corrected typescript speech given by Lindley Eberstadt to the Manuscript Society in May 1957 about the trial to establish right of ownership to field notes made by Captain William Clark. Speech annotated with an inscription to William F. Beinecke from Eberstadt. Collection also includes newspaper clippings from 1954 and 1955 describing Lewis and Clark sesquicentennial celebrations; a photo proof of the Lewis and Clark commemorative 150th anniversary stamp with a telegram describing design; 54 mint commemorative stamps in three sheets; a Lewis and Clark Expedition 150th Anniversary "First Day of Issue" stamped envelope addressed to Frederick W. Beinecke; a 1958 issue of the American Book Collector which details the United States federal government's suit to assert ownership over Clark's notes; and a 1955 issue of Chevrolet's Friends magazine with an article about the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
